We are excited for this year's new location near the Crosstown Concourse!
We will be painting the underpass on North Parkway, which gets over 5 million vehicles driving by each year. This is a very special thoroughfare on the Parkway system in Memphis, connecting Evergreen, Vollintine-Evergreen, Speedway Terrace, and Crosstown (neighborhood histories linked below) but it comes with a slight change in how applications and activities will work this year! While we plan to have some additional buildings and walls, the main site is a TN State Highway and we are required to submit everyone's designs to the City of Memphis and Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) very soon. Please design your mural according to the theme and what you can reasonably accomplish in a weekend!
"Bloom where you're planted" is an expression used to encourage growth and contentment, even under difficult conditions. Its about adaptation to wherever we are in life, making the best of circumstances.
Using delineations in the concrete panels, the wall spaces vary from 6'-17' tall and 10'-15' wide.
We are very open to designs that are more "die cut" with distinct and varied outline edges (vs all filled to rectangular boarders).
While we cannot guarantee anyone a specific spot, design using the ratios shown on Google Earth.
It's a great year to paint with a TEAM so assemble the crew or grab a partner if you can!
NO lettering or words, period.
NO flags, political, religious, or gang-associated symbols.
NO zombies, nudity, profanity, guns :)
