EXTERNAL APP --https://artist.callforentry.org/festivals_unique_info.php?ID=15322 -- The City of Montrose, Colorado, is seeking proposals from experienced mural and metalsmith artists to design and install a large-scale, interactive, and community-inspired art installation on the southwest exterior wall of City Hall. Collaborative proposals from teams of artists are welcomed, particularly where distinct skill sets are needed to integrate both mural and metalwork components. This installation will be permanent and should have a minimum lifespan of 10 years. Project Goals & Key Elements The Montrose City Hall art installation should be an interactive landmark that immerses both residents and visitors in Montrose’s breathtaking natural landscape. The ideal proposal will combine a mural and metalwork attached to the building. Designed to engage and inspire, it will invite public participation through features like photo opportunities, 3D elements offering unique perspectives, or a design that shifts with the viewer's angle. This installation should turn the artwork into an experience, not just something to admire from afar. The design should draw inspiration from Montrose’s distinctive landscape, highlighting iconic features such as the Black Canyon, the Gunnison and Uncompahgre Rivers, high desert terrain, or the surrounding mountain backdrop.
