Through this program, the FPRA funds the installation of murals on eligible properties within the designated redevelopment area. This program aims to reduce slum and blight, foster civic pride, and provide a platform for artistic expression while improving the overall aesthetic of the city.
The FPRA is excited to announce a Call for Artists for two upcoming mural opportunities as part of its ongoing efforts to enhance public spaces, foster local culture, and promote creative placemaking in the City of Fort Pierce.

A proposed mural will be painted on the exterior south and east walls of the newly renovated Florida Highwaymen Museum, located at 1234 Avenue D, Fort Pierce, FL 34950. The image, which has been selected captures the essence and culture of the Highwaymen artists. The City of Deerfield Beach will be one-hundred years old on June 25, 2025 and the city is seeking the creation of murals which show the history of the city over this time. The artist/entity may focus on the history of the city, its people, historic landmarks, geography, natural and built environment, but may also demonstrate events that occurred over the one-hundred-year span, provided it is relative to the City’s experience of those event(s). Murals may be created in whatever style the artist sees best fit for their mural.
As these pieces are related to the City’s celebration of its 100-year anniversary, there is a strict timeline with regards to completion. All murals must be complete and ready for public display three months after the date of the contract signing.

The mural mentorship project in Lauderdale by the Sea, FL aims to create a vibrant and visually striking mural under the guidance of Lead Artist Lori Pratico in partnership with BFA, funded by Wayne and Lucretia Weiner, Florida Purchasing Agency and Dara and Jarett Levan. Lori Pratico brings over 30 years of experience and creativity to the initiative. This collaborative endeavor will involve five mentee artists, providing them with the opportunity to build their mural skills and gain valuable insights into the process of creating murals. Throughout the project, the mentees will work closely with Lori Pratico, their mentor, participating in brainstorming sessions, design development, and the execution of the mural itself. This hands-on experience not only allows the mentees to contribute to a meaningful public art piece that reflects the community's unique character and spirit but also fosters personal growth and professional development in the field of muralism.
