About this mural:

The mural is designed in the likeness of the lab’s logo, which includes an octopus resting on top of the iconic Pacific Tower in Beacon Hill, which is not only Amazon's former HQ but also an emblem of Seattle and a symbol for cross-organizational collaboration. The lab focuses on cyber security and robotics AI, and the team does a lot of research, testing, and prototyping in these areas. The mural design consists of an octopus resting on a pile of equipment illustrated from references found in the lab, while another octopus enters from the left carrying related everyday objects. While most of the lab instruments are highly technical, generally speaking the team works to unlock, discover, and capture new findings, and the playful contrast between the two creatures highlights this narrative. The composition is full of Easter eggs that teammates and stakeholders would recognize, but that would be unfamiliar to (most of) the rest of us. The dragon at the far left is a nod to a super cool 3D printed dragon in the office, and, of course, needed to add Nemo as a final touch, which fit perfectly in this Nook in the Levrack shelving system.

I am originally from the East Coast and currently live in Seattle, where I moved for a job in Commercial Art back in 2017. While I love Seattle, I enjoy exploring new places and would love to travel for a mural project. I've been making art all my life and recently began focusing on my personal and professional practice within the public art realm. I have years of experience managing large commercial art projects for an art consulting company, and am currently the Project Director at Urban ArtWorks, which is a Seattle-based mural and youth nonprofit. At Urban ArtWorks, I oversee our commissioned projects from initial intake to installation, and I'm well-versed in the nuances of making a mural successful, including project management, planning, and production. I love making murals and am excited to push the boundaries of what I can do.
