About this mural:
My client wanted a mural that represented her establishment's mission and culture. I used the colors of the traditional Mexican Holiday, Dia de los Muertos, for the flower selections in combination with a version of the traditional mask. The client provided the quote she wanted, and I designed the elements together to make a bold entryway piece when their customers enter their restaurant. It is balanced asymmetrically with the floral arrangement.

Amanda Jean Murphy was born in Philadelphia, PA, and moved to San Diego in 2014 to pursue her career as an artist. She holds a Bachelor’s in Fine Arts from the University of Pennsylvania, and an Art Teaching Credential from Point Loma Nazarene University. While currently exhibiting in San Diego, Murphy’s goal is to exhibit her art internationally. Her paintings can be found on canvases, murals, and oftentimes digital work, with a concentration of acrylic and watercolor mediums.
Amanda Jean’s art focuses on the intersection of color and form to evoke emotion and tell a story. Her themes are centered around mental health, travel, and nature--encompassing the human spirit and culture that she experiences. Murphy is constantly exploring the world around her, soaking in all the emotions and colors that go with it. Much of her work has a meditative, spiritual vibe to it, if not comical and psychedelic. With a bold and vibrant personality, Amanda Jean’s art reflects the outgoing and bubbly personality she projects in her daily life.
