

About this mural:
This commission reflected on a very special woman's role in education during Women's Month in Louisville, Kentucky. This project was funded by the Portland (Kentucky) Museum and Kentucky Promise. Henrietta Helm was a teacher and principal and was noted as the first African American person in the state of Kentucky to formally become an educator. This work is adorned with a spotlight that helps its visibility at night in downtown Kentucky.
