This mural was created for the City of Austin in partnership with Raasin In The Sun, a local nonprofit organization. The goal was to activate a long neglected retaining wall for the community, and bring attention to the many ecological, social, and environmental justice issues that still exist in the city. Bantam chickens are a staple sight in the neighborhood. These truly free-range chickens wander in a close-knit pack and protect each other as they survey and meander through their neighborhood. The community requested bantam chickens be a subject, and I wanted to show the sense of family and tribes who look out for one another and lift each other up.
