Aztec Ascension Mural Art

Mural size:
75 ft x 10 ftAbout this mural:
The mural design I created for Delicias pays homage to the spirit of Mexico City. In this design I’ve used cultural symbols like the feathered serpent god, Kukulkan, to honor the vibrancy and traditional roots of Mexico City, where the owners of Delicias and the city’s famous, traditional cuisine are from. I also added the Pyramid of Kukulkan, jungle leaves and a beautiful, strong female portrait of a native aztec woman to compliment this composition. I was especially excited with how Kukulkan’s feathers came to life with my vibrant color pallet. This design holds personal significance in my heart; I not only have Mexican heritage, but by serendipity, I travelled to the Pyramid of Kukulkan (Chichen Itza) just before designing this. Also, after discussing inspirations for the mural design, the owners were very interested and excited about incorporating this deity. It was my goal to create a mural that embraces and compliments the culture of this family owned restaurant. I hope this colorful mural creates an uplifting impact on the city of Desert Hot Springs and beyond. I look forward to creating more colorful murals around the world. I especially aim to create vibrant murals in places like the desert where people are extra thirsty for it! I truly believe in the healing impact of art and how essential it is in creating and maintaining restorative value to our culture.
