I was commissioned to create a mural honoring the legacy of artist Jacob Lawrence painted direct using acrylic and spray paint on the exterior wall of Atlantic Cape Community College, Atlantic City, NJ. The mural is a modern interpretation of Lawrence’s “Dream No. 2” painting. It combines the dreams and aspirations of today’s Atlantic City youth with Lawrence’s signature dynamic cubism, limited color palette and visual storytelling. The project was a collaboration with Atlantic City Arts Foundation, Atlantic City Leaders in Training Youth program and community leaders. The mural main subject is one of the Leaders in Training participants and features career aspirations provide by other youth participants.
