About this mural:

Eaton History Collage is a permanent, site-specific public artwork commissioned by the Washington, DC Department of General Services for Eaton Elementary School, with the project facilitated by Zenith Gallery. Measuring 70 × 70 × 3 inches, this three-dimensional mixed-media assemblage combines acrylic painting, drawing, archival imagery, found objects, photographic transfers, and sculptural elements to celebrate the history of the school, its namesake General John Eaton, and the surrounding community. The composition integrates historical research with contemporary artistic techniques, transforming archival material and symbolic imagery into a richly layered visual narrative. Its sculptural surfaces create depth and shifting shadows, inviting viewers to engage with the artwork from different distances and perspectives. Created for a busy educational environment, the work balances visual impact with intricate detail, offering students, teachers, and visitors opportunities for historical discovery and reflection. The installation demonstrates my experience developing and delivering permanent public-art commissions, collaborating with institutional clients, and integrating complex mixed-media artworks into architectural spaces. This photograph shows the completed artwork installed at Eaton Elementary School, illustrating its scale, dimensional construction, and relationship to the surrounding architecture.
