About this mural:

Eleven students, ages 11–14, participated in a unique “Introduction to Graffiti” summer camp at Nash Community College led by international artist and professor Georges Le Chevallier. What began as an art class turned into a mission to raise awareness about firefighter mental health. Inspired by a conversation with Nash CC’s Fire Services Director Joseph Parks, Le Chevallier partnered with the global nonprofit You Are Not Alone Murals to guide students in creating a powerful public mural at the college’s fire training facility. The mural features four symbolic colors and the phrase “You Are Not Alone,” aligning with the nonprofit’s mental health awareness initiative. “This was more than just an art project—it was a way to show support for first responders and bring attention to the psychological toll they face,” said Le Chevallier. Local firefighters attended the unveiling of the mural, which was completed in just four days—an extraordinary achievement for students with no prior mural experience. “This is a win on so many levels,” said Nash CC President Dr. Lew Hunnicutt. “These young students not only learned new skills but created something that truly matters.”
