This mural was inspired by one of the first bicycle manufacturers in the United States, Iver Johnson. Iver Johnson had several warehouses in Fitchburg at the turn of the 20th Century where his bicycles were constructed and sold all over the country. Today, Iver Johnson bicycles are highly collectible pieces. Using art to celebrate and raise awareness to local history is a great way for people to be more engaged in their city and community.

I love making large scale outdoor mural work. I love how it brings art to the people taking it out of the confines of white walled gallery and museum elitism. I have personally witnessed the power of public art, and how it inspires and fosters community engagement. There is nothing more satisfying than a design materializing on a wall as people drive by honking their horns and shouting words of encouragement!
