PEACE PREVAILS Another mural in a series I am inadvertently working on called “The Ongoing Battle…” Here, I’ve designed the hand holding up a peace sign as the hero of the piece, rising up out of a colorful puddle. The peace sign is accompanied by two colorful friends, but the scene is not necessarily one of pure peace. I wanted the scene to feel like a battlefield, with a combination of sunsets, outerspace, and colorful waves / underwater currents. It’s as if we are stuck in this ongoing battle that lives in every dimension, even in our minds. You will also find ANYONE, my new character, raising their hands up but aren’t sure if it’s in a state of surrender, or command. The peace hand is resisting the appearance of a UFO and an iridescent smiley has it’s head exploding with color, as the Eye of Providence (God) watches over. I wanted this piece to feel a little bit crazy, with a lots of tension. I used complementing colors to create swirls and waves to give it lots of motion, and the swirling colors was applied with a new technique I’ve been working on. And the point I’m trying to make is that there actually is a battle happening. The battle for good, for love, for peace. And the tension represents the irony of the fact that we must FIGHT for PEACE. But ultimately Peace always prevails, good wins over evil and love actually does conquer all… So which side are you on? Because in this ongoing battle for all things good, there is no neutral. You are either with us, or against us.
