High Ridge Costa reached out to me to help create a piece for the lobby and recreation room of their new LA development built with an amazing purpose—a permanent supportive housing community for homeless veterans and their families. I love their mission and it was an exciting challenge to blend my signature realism with their mid-century modern aesthetic. Drawing inspiration from their beautiful decor’s lines and shapes, I then wanted to bring in the Great Blue Heron, symbolizing transformation, wisdom, and determination(and so much more)to become the heart(s) of this piece. Seeing these birds in nature never cease to move and inspire me and my hope is that this piece has a similar effect on those who will soon call this place home.
