Xochi and the Golden Eagle Mural Art
About this mural:
This piece is an homage to the Mexican and indigenous cultures of West Texas. The real Xochi is an Aztec dancer who is a friend of mine. The clouds are a nod to the evening sky that turns pink and orange, the butterflies are for the route of the monarchs through Amarillo, and the American Goldfinch being a common bird of the area and state.

Ms.Yellow (Nuria Ortiz) is a self-taught artist, muralist & craftswoman. Born in Long Beach, Ca of Mexican descent, she has dedicated her time to the creative development & empowerment of community & youth by developing workshops, murals & mentorship to the public. Her work explores themes such as culture, folklore, education, love & social justice. Her artwork/ murals have been displayed in museums, galleries & streets throughout Mexico, USA, Egypt, Haiti, Japan, Spain, France & Australia.
