About this mural:

Ania Amador, director of Art in Session (a non-profit organization that provides resources for creatives) was scrolling through her socials in search of talented muralists to be featured in the organization’s upcoming West Edge Mural Festival when she spotted Shane’s work. She believed he would be an excellent fit for the festival. She reached out to the fellow muralist, who in turn expressed his interest in joining the project—a five day festival in which guests were invited to watch as fifteen muralists from around the globe painted their large scale pieces side-by-side along a 4,000 square foot strip of temporarily boarded up, newly developed, and yet-to-be-occupied retail storefronts in Los Angeles, California. The event culminated in an end-of-festival celebration that included food vendors, media coverage, and live music, and gave guests an opportunity to meet and greet contributing artists. Since the piece would be temporary, rather than pushing in the direction of his most frequently featured subject matter—portraiture—Shane decided to take the opportunity to make the florals the focal point instead. He chose to create a dramatic abstraction of a chrysanthemum in vibrant, saturated hues that diminish into deeper undertones of blues, violets, oranges, and magentas.
