Created during Long Beach Walls Mural Festival. This mural honors the strength of family despite borders. It represents the physical distance between those of us who left out native homeland and the loved ones who stayed behind. The two figures find themselves in different places but despite the distance, the love and connection remains. We’ve all missed someone or something, with those shared experiences, I hope anyone is able to relate to this mural in some way.

Karina Vazquez is a Mexican born visual artist residing in Long Beach CA. Through her work, she explores the interconnectedness of dreams, consciousness, and existence. Her work has been part of numerous group exhibitions throughout LA, and she has realized several public art projects throughout Southern California.
