"Spring in the Valley" Mural Art

This project represents springtime in the St. Croix Valley, and features a couple of the most visually striking and highly sought after delicacies that the woods provide during this time of year. Some of the first wild edibles to emerge from the recently thawed soil are the young shoots of the native ostrich fern, also known as “fiddleheads”, along with the highly revered and elusive morel mushroom. Both stand as symbols of the area’s natural beauty and unique biodiversity, as well as represent opportunities for all to enjoy and connect with the local landscape and food we eat.

Taylor is an artist and educator living in the St. Croix Valley of western Wisconsin, about 30 minutes outside of the Twin Cities. Working with his hands and spending time outdoors have been passions of his since a young age. Taylor's work consists of both aesthetic and functional art forms, from printmaking and mural painting, to knife making and fly tying. Regardless of medium, his work is often inspired by his passion for history and spending time outdoors. These creations are documentation of his learning and thought process as he discovers and explores new places, visual languages, and various aspects of the natural world.
