JM Knudsen is an American multimedia artist, designer and photographer. Currently, Knudsen creates out of California US.
As of 2021, Knudsen has showcased dozens of art exhibitions in California and in 2017 held his first gallery show overseas in Ericiera, Portugal. Since 2015, in addition to hundreds of artworks, he has created more than 60 large scale murals worldwide. With public murals nationally in California and New York. And at the international stage, murals in Paris, France, Ericiera, Portugal and Barcelona, Spain.
Born in Seattle, Washington, Knudsen re-located with his mother to California in his early teens. Growing up around art and design in addition to practicing from a very young age, Knudsen feels this was a major factor in his natural understanding in those areas. He also attributes his multicultural and multinational background as a great influence.
Knudsen completed a formal education at the university level and received a bachelors degree in design in California. Besides that education, Knudsen states he has no formal training in painting and says he is a self taught artist in that medium. Knudsen says that research, life experiences and experimentation brought him to his current skill level as a visual artist. Knudsen notes artists Salvador Dali, Pablo Picasso and Jean Michel Basquiat as figures that have influenced his art.
