I am a multi-disciplinary artist living and working in Detroit, Michigan. I was born and raised in Petoskey, Michigan, and received my BA in Arts and Ideas in the Humanities from the University of Michigan in 2016. Since finishing my undergraduate degree, I have completed a thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail and Colorado Trail. My work centers on embodiment and joy. The content of my work spans from the highly personal, intimate oil portraits of the human body, to the abstract, large scale acrylic murals that live in public and private residences. No matter the content, my compositions are intended to be a celebration. The colors feel exuberant. Each composition is grounded in a series of bold and contrasting shapes. I like to layer colors on top of each other and maintain distinct boundaries between them. The shapes carry motion. My work is directional. It brings the viewer into and through a space. At it’s best my work is joyful. My practice is an extension of myself.
