Naomi Duben, a painter, muralist, and chalk artist, brings a rich background in painting and a passion for collage, mixed media, and unconventional color combinations to her art. A graduate of San Diego State University with a major in Fine Arts, she continuously explores fresh avenues to channel her adoration for vibrant hues into new mediums.
Duben's artistic process revolves around keenly observing highlights and shadows, employing unconventional warm and cool colors to create visual depth. Additionally, she collects an assortment of found objects, textiles, and decorative papers, integrating them into her work through the art of collage. This fusion of materials adds texture and intrigue, while her use of bright colors captivates viewers' eyes, often evoking lively conversations and drawing crowds.
Naomi's talent extends beyond her studio. Her work has been showcased in prestigious venues such as Sanchez Contemporary Art Gallery, Ironstone Vineyards, Resurrect Oakland Art Gallery, Expressions Gallery, and various RAW Artist showcases.
She has also participated in numerous chalk festivals and art events across the country, including the Italian Street Painting Festival Marin, Palo Alto Festival of the Arts, Chalktoberfest in Marietta, Georgia, Tempe AZ Chalk Festival, iMadonnari in Santa Barbara, and more. Her captivating chalk art has traveled far and wide, delighting audiences with its vivid colors and intricate designs.
In addition to her exhibitions, Naomi has contributed to various corporate projects, leaving her artistic imprint in installations such as the TaskForce Climate Change Chalk Art Campaign, the San Francisco Pier 39 Celebration Sea Lion Statue Mural, the Birkenstock Corporate Sales Conference event mural, and the San Francisco General Hospital Association Hearts in SF Project. Her talent and versatility shine through in these collaborative endeavors.
Naomi's mural portfolio boasts an impressive range of locations. Noteworthy works include the Burning Man Center Camp mural, a community mural at Trinity Church in East Los Angeles, artwork at the Curious Palate restaurant in Santa Monica, In The Groove Studio in Oakland, the iconic Red Victorian on Haight Street, and vibrant contributions to Amp Lofts Apartments in DTLA. She has also made a significant impact by painting murals on boarded-up businesses during the BLM Rally in 2020, using her art to convey powerful messages of unity and resilience.
Naomi Duben resides and practices her art in Los Angeles, California. In her free time, she finds joy in teaching paint parties, engaging in face painting at her friends' children's birthday celebrations, exploring the study of herbalism, nurturing her garden, experimenting with cooking, and embracing the rhythm of jazz funk dance.
