Aaron “Woes” Martin Aaron “Woes” Martin is a Hawaiʻi-born contemporary artist, muralist, designer toy artist, and illustrator best known for his signature Panda King characters. Born in Kailua and raised in Kalihi on the island of Oʻahu, Woes developed his visual language through influences from graffiti, hip-hop, character design, and the culture he grew up around. After relocating to the mainland, Woes began exhibiting his work in the early 2000s and became a full-time artist in 2003. His work combines aggressive character expressions, bold linework, vibrant color, and organic elements, often contrasting the traditionally peaceful image of the panda with themes of emotion, struggle, resilience, and personality. Over the course of his career, Woes has created murals and exhibited artwork internationally while becoming a recognized figure in the designer-toy and urban contemporary art communities. His work has included collaborations and projects with brands and organizations including Disney, Toyota, Kidrobot, Converse, Samsung, and others. Beyond painting, Woes works across sculpture, designer toys, illustration, puppetry, and music, bringing the same character-driven approach into each medium. His murals can be found in Hawaiʻi, Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and other locations around the world.
