It invites artists, designers, and other creatives to propose a temporary public art installation in Maja Park on Philadelphia’s Benjamin Franklin Parkway that will be commissioned for summer 2025. Proposals are asked to explore the ways in which art can engage with audiences and respond to the site. The Benjamin Franklin Parkway is one of Philadelphia’s grandest civic spaces with a rich array of art and architecture—including many sculptures commissioned and maintained by the Association for Public Art. This opportunity invites proposals that expand the idea of the Parkway as a great urban park while both celebrating the Parkway’s historic built environment and exploring its future as a more inclusive and vibrant public space for all Philadelphians. This commission will be a part of the annual Oval summer festivities on the Parkway and must be durable and suitable for display in a public park open to the elements for the four month exhibit period from July-October 2025.

15' x 200' mural ----- The Trenton Transit Center, which serves Amtrak rail, New Jersey Transit bus and rail, South East Philadelphia Transportation Authority (SEPTA) rail, and the River Line light rail line, is a major transit gateway to Trenton, the State Capital of New Jersey. The Transit Center is a short walk to downtown Trenton, including several residential neighborhoods, the downtown business district, parks, galleries and entertainment venues, state, county and city government offices. At present, pedestrians must navigate a network of vehicular on-ramps, barren traffic islands, and a dark and dirty highway underpass on their walk from the Transit Center to downtown Trenton.
A coalition of non-profit, local and state government partners, led by Artworks Trenton Inc., Trenton’s non-profit visual art center, is seeking to create an “Artwalk” along this route, commissioning and installing public art, along with wayfinding, traffic calming, and landscaping elements, in order to transform the walk between the Transit Center and downtown Trenton into a visually appealing and safe experience, encouraging healthy behaviors such as walking and bicycling, and encouraging increased use of public transit by Trenton residents, commuters and visitors.
The first piece of this overall plan to create the Artwalk and transform the walk to downtown is the commissioning of art work to animate the Route 1/129 underpass. Artworks is soliciting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for a permanent public art painted mural to cover one wall of this underpass (this EOI call).

The Mount Rainier Arts Commission is currently accepting qualifications for a building wrap mural located at 3510 Rhode Island Avenue in the City of Mount Rainier, MD. The building is adjacent to a main thoroughfare into Washington, DC and will be viewed by tens of thousands of commuters daily. Part of the Gateway Arts District, Mount Rainier is home to over 150 art studios that contribute to the enrichment of the community.
Budget Description
Up to three finalists will be selected and given a $600 stipend to develop a proposal for a mural project at 3510 Rhode Island Avenue. One artist will be selected for this project and awarded $17,500 to complete the mural. The budget awarded must cover all expenses associated with the creation of the mural, which includes but are not limited to travel, paint/media, materials, wall preparation, and scaffolding or lift. Artist will be liable for property damage or personal injury during installation; proof of insurance will be required for the final selectee.
Project Description
The mural will be installed on the front and sides of 3510 Rhode Island Avenue, as well as a retaining wall to the south of the building (see purple areas of images attached below). This building is home to Station 3510, a dynamic artist space that hosts exhibitions, classes, and events. The exterior walls are painted brick, and the retaining wall is concrete. The condition of the surfaces is good, clean, and will be power washed prior to the mural installation.
The selected artists will be expected to use appropriate materials to ensure the artwork does not require maintenance for 10 years. The available design space includes the entire front and side facades of the building, excluding windows, as well as the attached retaining wall. Complete coverage isn’t necessary and is dependent on the design of the mural. The front facade is approximately 48' W and 30' H. The north side facade is approximately 37’ W x 24’ H. The south side facade is approximately 27’ W x 19.25’ H with a grade change at ground level. The retaining wall is approximately 75’ W x 4’ H. Exact dimensions and schematics will be provided to finalists.
Artwork Goals
The Arts Commission seeks a contemporary artwork that will enrich our community. Mount Rainier celebrates artists’ individual visions. Content and concept are up to the artist, but artists are expected to consider feedback from public review sessions. The Arts Commission believes in human artists; we will not accept AI-generated artwork.
