APPLY HERE -- https://arttopublic.net/cmlc-act-rfq_2025 -- Budget: $1.32 million CND -- CMLC seeks an artist or artist team to create an artwork(s) for the ACT Expansion through this
unencumbered call. CMLC encourages all locally, nationally and internationally qualified artists to
apply. The public art design will beautify, activate, and enliven the Arts Commons campus. The
successful artist/artist team will work with CMLC, Arts Commons, the design team KPMB Architects,
Hindle Architects, and TAWAW Architecture Collective, and the Construction Manager Ellis Don to
coordinate design, fabrication, and installation. The Arts Commons Transformation and Olympic Plaza Transformation comprise of a $660 million
program of projects consisting of a new performing arts centre building (ACT Expansion),
modernization and augmentation of existing facilities (ACT Modernization), and the renewal of
Olympic Plaza (Olympic Plaza Transformation (OPT)). Together, these make up the largest artsfocused
infrastructure project currently underway in Canada. In December of 2024, after four years
of extensive community consultation and planning, CMLC, the City of Calgary, and Arts Commons
broke ground for the ACT Expansion. As a result of the placement of the ACT Expansion within the Arts Commons campus, the building’s
north edge is located immediately adjacent to the public realm and is highly visible from the passing
Calgary Transit (CTrain) light rail cars and by pedestrians. The design of the Expansion limits windows
along the north edge, leaving a solid, rather long and tall façade bordering an important part of the
public realm. As a result, CMLC and its partners are launching the ACT Expansion Public Art RFQ that
will play an essential role in connecting the Arts Commons Campus with its urban context.

apply here: https://yycbump.ca/2025artistcall/ -- Welcome to the ninth year of the BUMP Festival! We are thrilled to announce that artist applications for our 2025 festival are officially open. This year, BUMP is growing in exciting ways—a place for new thought, a testing ground for bold ideas in public art, and a platform where artists can truly push boundaries.
In 2025, we are challenging artists to use the city as their canvas, asking critical questions and experimenting with their practice in conversation with Calgary itself. The festival aims to foster dialogue between artists, public spaces, and the community, creating works that provoke thought, ignite imagination, and transform the urban landscape.
Over the years, the BUMP Festival has evolved into a cornerstone of Calgary’s creative ecosystem, commissioning landmark public art pieces and nurturing a vibrant, inclusive artistic community. For 2025, we are raising the bar even higher, shaping the festival into a hub for pioneering creativity that has the power to reshape our city from the ground up.

Project Goals – 6x26:
The City of Umatilla has a goal to complete six (6) murals in Umatilla. These plans align with city council goals listed below:
Goal 3 – Enhance & Cultivate Relationships, Partnerships, & Community Perceptions
Goal 4 – Increase Public Involvement, Increase Transparency, & Enhance Cultural Diversity
First presented to the Council in April of 2019, the 6x26 Mural Project will beautify the Umatilla community through commissioned artists and public involvement to create murals on downtown buildings. The project will conclude in 2026.
Vision for Nugent Park Mural:
Nugent Park, in Umatilla, Oregon, is the first location for the 6x26 Mural Project. The theme for the mural is “Celebrate Umatilla Parks and Recreation”. The content of the mural is up to the artist’s discretion. Some things to consider include a collage of sports like baseball and soccer. Since the mural is located at Nugent Park, home to the City’s little league field, the sporting component is important. Additionally, the park is just feet from the Umatilla River and a walking path. The mural could include recreation activities such as kayaking, fishing, hiking, and boat launching.
This mural should focus on the theme “Celebrate Umatilla Parks and Recreation”.
